Whether you’re browsing the popular bars of Erewhon or strolling through Sephora at The Grove, see what Los Angeles women are wearing, from color trends to shoes that locals are incorporating into their wardrobes. I love paying attention to dolphins. The latter is today’s topic and I’m here to report my fashion findings.
When it comes to flat shoes found around LA this winter, there are five main styles. Before I share my thoughts, keep in mind that of course everyone still wears Uggs, Sambas, and Birkenstocks. We’ve crossed these off the list to give you a fresher perspective on what to spend your shoe budget on this winter. Now, let’s get down to business.
Scroll down to see and shop the five flat shoe styles that are on repeat this season.
1. Suede sneakers
More specifically, certain styles have rounder toes and are usually paired with chunky white laces. Thanks to the textured material, it gives a cozy atmosphere during the cold season. The company also plans to offer shoes that “combine bowling and wrestling,” if that makes sense. If not, check out Sarah Walker and Tania Salin for yourself below.

2. Chocolate brown ballet shoes
Ballet flats are a timeless shoe style for any season, but chocolate brown flats are all the rage this winter (at least in Los Angeles). You can pair comfortable flats with little white socks and a miniskirt for a super romantic vibe, or pair them with very dark denim for a super on-trend winter outfit.

3. Black sneakers
I’ll be honest. This isn’t my favorite style, but it’s definitely prevalent in the LA crowd, so I wanted to include it. It’s a little too grungy for my taste, but that doesn’t mean it’s not on trend. All-black sneakers give off the vibe of a “cool girl who is always ahead of trends.”

4. Fitted knee-high boots
I’m really into this and love the fit around the calf. I can’t wait to add a pair to my flat boot selection this winter. I’d probably go for the pointed toe option, but I’m also seeing super round toe versions, so this flat boot trend this season has its own thing. The key here is to find a design that fits snugly around your calves and reaches just below your knees.

5. Bejeweled flats
Surprising, but in the most chic way. We call this the Alaïa ballet shoe effect, and ballet shoes are no longer boring. Studs, stones, and sparkles are all welcome and will make any outfit look ten times more luxurious. Women in Los Angeles are embracing this flat shoe trend right now.
