Having a street style goat mother means Suri Cruise is destined to inherit great fashion genes. So it’s just basic biology. After all, impeccable OOTDs are practically in Cruise’s blood, thanks to mom Katie Holmes’ collection of baggy jeans and very good coats.
On Wednesday, the 18-year-old Carnegie Mellon University student was spotted in New York City on her way to see her famous mother perform in “Our Town” on Broadway. For the outing, Cruise looked as if he had gone shopping in his mother’s closet, wearing an olive green puffer coat with an exaggerated collar, slouchy blue jeans, and Converse sneakers. She accessorized with a black choker and a brown leather tote bag, one of Holmes’ favorite bag styles. Her shiny brunette hair was tied straight and parted in the middle.
Wednesday was also Holmes’ 46th birthday, and in addition to cheering her mother on from the Broadway audience, Cruise also gave Holmes a kind gesture. On Wednesday, the actress posted a photo of a beautiful purple rose on her Instagram Story and captioned it, “I’m so grateful for all my blessings 💕 especially my daughter 🌷.”
Holmes was also seen wearing a similar jacket and jeans on Wednesday. Holmes chose a black pea coat accented with a gold belt on the chest. She completed her ensemble with black boots, a matching beanie, tote bag, and sunglasses.
This isn’t the first time Cruise has taken a sartorial page from Holmes’ book. In October, the mother-daughter duo stepped out wearing several statement coats. Holmes wore a camel trench and Cruise wore a sherpa-lined jean jacket. Earlier this year, she attended her senior year prom wearing a corseted dress with an asymmetrical hemline, reminiscent of what Holmes would have worn in the ’90s. During the summer, she wore short denim overalls to play Holmes’ Dawson’s Creek character, Joey Potter.
