This year, King Charles paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth by hosting his annual pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace instead of Windsor Castle on Friday, December 20 for the first time. This tradition was followed by the late king throughout her long reign. Several key members of the royal family were absent from the private family luncheon – Duchess Kate, Prince William and their children had already traveled 160 miles away to Norfolk for a holiday, and Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson bowed out amid the disgraceful royal family’s latest scandal – but it was also an opportunity for King Charles and Queen Camilla to mingle with extended members of the royal family. Royal fans were also treated to rare glimpses from several members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth’s glamorous grandnephew Samuel Chatto, who made another appearance for the family outing.
The fan-favorite royal and her brother Arthur Chatto are not active members of the royal family and do not usually attend royal engagements or other official events, so they rarely appear in public. But royal watchers caught a rare glimpse of Mr Chatto wearing a gray and yellow scarf, maroon tie, white dress shirt and dark coat as he drove to Friday’s luncheon.
The 28-year-old son of Lady Sarah Chatto and Daniel Chatto is the eldest son of the late Queen’s sister Princess Margaret and 29th in line to the throne. While Chato follows the royal tradition by attending the same universities as Prince William, including Eton College and Edinburgh University, she is also an artist who enjoys pottery and is a certified yoga instructor.
Chatto’s last royal appearance was during the annual Christmas Day walk from Sandringham House to St. The photo was taken. He also attended major family gatherings such as Queen Elizabeth’s funeral and King Charles’ coronation.
It’s unclear whether Chatto will be attending the royal festivities at Sandringham this year, but fans may be able to expect the young royal to make another public appearance on Christmas Day this year.
