Dua Lipa is the latest in a string of celebrities to announce they are evacuating Los Angeles amid the devastating wildfires that have ravaged the city since early Tuesday. As it stands, there are several large fires currently burning, including the Palisades Fire, Eaton Fire, Hearst Fire, Lydia Fire, Kenneth Fire, and Sunset Fire, which have burned a total of approximately 36,000 acres. With about 180,000 residents under evacuation orders and thousands more essentially on standby, Dua Lipa is among the many Angelenos forced to evacuate the area. I am just one of them.
On Thursday, January 9, the singer posted a video on Instagram, letting his family, friends, and fans know he was safe.
“It’s been a truly devastating and terrifying few days in Los Angeles,” she wrote. “My thoughts are with all my friends and the people in the city who had to evacuate their homes.”
She continued, “I’m safe and out of town. Sending love to everyone going through this incredibly difficult time. Stay safe and take care of each other. Please.”
Ripa then used her platform to share links on how to help evacuees, including shelter information and local restaurants offering free meals.
Ripa’s message follows Instagram posts from fellow celebrities Paris Hilton and Mandy Moore, whose homes were damaged by wildfires this week. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are among the evacuees, and Jamie Lee Curtis recently announced she would donate $1 million to wildfire relief efforts.
“This home wasn’t just a place to live. It was a place where we dreamed, laughed, and created the most beautiful memories as a family,” Hilton wrote on Instagram. “It was a place where Phoenix’s little hands created art that I will cherish forever, a place filled with love and life in every corner. To see it reduced to ashes… It’s shocking beyond words.”
