Transformative initiative aims to revolutionize women’s healthcare across all life stages
NYU Langone Health has launched an ambitious new initiative, the Mignone Women’s Health Collaborative, backed by $60 million in philanthropic funding. This groundbreaking program is designed to reshape the landscape of women’s healthcare, providing comprehensive, integrated services to women of all ages.
The collaborative is supported by two major contributions: a $50 million donation from philanthropists Allison and Roberto Mignone, and a $10 million gift from financier Ken Griffin. These gifts will fund a range of innovative healthcare services, clinical programs, and wellness initiatives targeting every phase of a woman’s life, from adolescence to menopause and beyond.
A New Era in Holistic Women’s Healthcare
Set within NYU Langone’s state-of-the-art facilities, the Mignone Women’s Health Collaborative brings together more than 125 healthcare providers across 20 medical specialties. The center is built around the concept of holistic, interdisciplinary care, encompassing preventive medicine, maternal health, cardiology, oncology, endocrinology, mental health, and more.
Women visiting the center will benefit from personalized health plans that consider both medical needs and lifestyle factors. Whether managing chronic conditions, preparing for pregnancy, or navigating menopause, patients will have access to a coordinated team of specialists who work collaboratively to support their long-term health.
Griffin Healthspan and Vitality Center
In addition to clinical care, the initiative features the Griffin Healthspan and Vitality Center, a dedicated space focused on helping women age healthfully. This component of the collaborative provides services such as wellness workshops, yoga and fitness classes, nutritional counseling, sleep therapy, and mental health support.
The goal is to extend not just lifespan but also healthspan—the number of years a person lives in good health. Through this initiative, NYU Langone aims to empower women with the knowledge and tools they need to maintain vitality and independence well into later life.
Addressing Critical Gaps in Women’s Health
Historically, women’s health has been underfunded and underserved in the medical community. Despite representing more than half the population, women have often faced disparities in research, diagnostics, and access to specialty care. This new collaborative directly addresses these long-standing gaps by ensuring that women receive equitable, evidence-based, and high-quality healthcare at every stage of life.
The Mignone Women’s Health Collaborative also serves as a research hub, where physicians and scientists work side-by-side to advance understanding of women-specific health issues. These findings will translate directly into improved care protocols and innovative treatments for conditions that disproportionately or uniquely affect women.
A Personal Mission
For Allison Mignone, the mission is deeply personal. As a breast cancer survivor, she understands firsthand the importance of timely, coordinated, and compassionate care. She envisions the collaborative as a national model for how women’s health should be delivered—comprehensive, proactive, and rooted in the latest scientific research.
The Mignones’ gift is intended to fuel not just care delivery, but also medical education and research. NYU Langone plans to train the next generation of healthcare providers in the principles of gender-specific medicine, preparing them to better meet the needs of diverse populations of women.
Looking Ahead
The opening of the Mignone Women’s Health Collaborative marks a significant step forward in advancing women’s health in the United States. As the healthcare system continues to evolve, models like this one are expected to play an increasingly important role in delivering care that is inclusive, personalized, and data-driven.
NYU Langone’s initiative sends a clear message: women’s health is not a niche specialty but a central pillar of modern medicine. With world-class resources, cutting-edge research, and a commitment to equity, the collaborative is poised to become a leading force in shaping the future of healthcare for women.
