From engineer to entrepreneur, Abla Dziri is redefining luxury with her three distinct brands, empowering women to live bold, fulfilling lives.
Abla Dziri always knew she was meant to be a businesswoman. From a young age, she exhibited a fierce determination that would shape her journey into one of Dubai’s most exciting and influential entrepreneurs. What began as a vision to change how people view luxury has now transformed into two flourishing brands: House of Black Baron, Maison Baron Noir, and a third on the verge of launching, MBN Chocolaterie. Each brand represents a unique facet of her ambitions, blending sophistication, comfort, and boldness in a way that reflects her dynamic personality and unwavering belief in women’s potential.
The Beginnings of a Visionary
Born in Tanger, Morocco, grew up in Brussels,Belgium and now living in Dubai, UAE – it’s more than a journey, it’s a way of life. However, her path wasn’t always as clear as it seems today. At ten years old, she watched the Burj Khalifa rise on television and made a promise to herself: one day, she would build her future there too. But before stepping into the world of business, she followed a more traditional route as per her parents’ expectations, studying engineering. It was the first glimpse into the inspiration behind her brand name, an engineering mindset, combined with a passion for creativity.
Her early years were marked by a series of significant decisions. During her studies at the university, she got married at the age of 20 to her high school sweetheart Maxime Janssens with whom she later started House of Black Baron. “Marriage is not easy but when it’s with the right partner you can accomplish everything. His trust and dedication were the foundations for the business and me as a trader” she says with a warm smile. She was accepted into Harvard. However, her drive for real-world experience led her to drop out of the prestigious institution. Instead, Abla honed her entrepreneurial skills, eventually obtaining an MBA in London. It was during her studies that she developed an intense curiosity about the financial markets, which led her to become a trader. “Trading has helped me fund our businesses as well as our lifestyle, it has changed my life and me as a person,” she shares.
She went from engineer to wife, to trader and now to a rising entrepreneur. “I want other women to know that they can have it all, if they’re willing to take bold steps and pursue their dreams.”
The Road to Entrepreneurship
Abla’s transition into entrepreneurship was not instantaneous; it came with its own set of challenges. Her path was unconventional, but that’s exactly what made her vision stand out. After all, her businesses aren’t just brands; they’re a reflection of her life’s journey and philosophy.
With House of Black Baron, a sportswear brand designed for individuals who want to feel confident both during their workouts and while on the go, Black Baron offers a line that combines performance and style. The brand embodies the idea that luxury doesn’t need to be restricted to formalwear, it can be part of your everyday life, even during the most active moments.
Next came Maison Baron Noir, a clothing line made in Antwerp, an ode to the Belgian savoir-faire that focuses on providing women with luxury clothing without sacrificing comfort. Crafted for women who refuse to compromise on either style or ease, Maison Baron Noir is an ode to every woman who values both elegance and practicality. The brand’s vision is a reflection of Abla’s own personal philosophy: luxury should be something that empowers women, not something that confines them.
Last but certainly not least is MBN Chocolaterie, a Belgian chocolate brand that brings indulgence to life with its meticulously crafted offerings. The original idea came from her older sister Sara, who encouraged her to treat the rest of the world to the finest chocolate with exceptional branding. This venture into chocolate-making is another way to showcase her love for fine craftsmanship and quality. “What more do you need?” she jokes. “Chocolate, crafted the Belgian way, is luxury in its sweetest form.”
What Makes Abla Different
Abla’s approach to business sets her apart from the competition. While many entrepreneurs follow trends, Abla’s brands are a direct reflection of her lifestyle and values. She doesn’t just design products; she crafts experiences that she herself would want to enjoy daily. Her brands have been years in the making, with every design and product meticulously developed to reflect the quality and thoughtfulness she believes luxury should embody.
“We don’t just create to fill a market gap,” she explains. “We design and make products that we truly believe in, products that we want to wear or use ourselves. You can feel it, the authenticity is in the details, in the story behind the brand.”
Abla’s motto, “Audentes Fortuna Iuvat” (Fortune favors the bold), perfectly encapsulates her entrepreneurial spirit. It’s a reminder that success comes not from waiting for opportunities to knock, but from creating them, boldly, fearlessly, and with passion. Her success is a testament to her resilience, determination, and the unwavering support from her husband and co-founder, who has been an integral part of her journey.
Empowering Women: A Message for the Bold
Through her work, Abla aims to inspire women to take control of their lives and careers. She believes that women can have it all, whether it’s building a business, raising a family, or pursuing their passions. “It’s about breaking the mold and creating a space for women to thrive in every aspect of their lives,” she says. “I want women to know they can be successful, powerful, and graceful all at once. There’s no need to compromise.”
For Abla, the journey is far from over. She is only beginning to make her mark on social media, aiming to reach even more women with her message of ambition, empowerment, and success. Her brands may be in their infancy, but their potential is limitless. She is determined to continue inspiring, educating, and empowering women around the world.
The Future Looks Bold
The future of Abla Dziri’s brands is bright. As she continues to expand her reach and influence, her vision remains clear: to create luxury products that people can connect with on a personal level. Whether it’s through sportswear that makes you feel confident, clothing that combines luxury and comfort, or chocolates that offer indulgence with a story, Abla’s brands are a celebration of what it means to be bold, elegant, and unapologetically successful.
